Prison Outreach Committee
The San Jose SAA Prison Outreach Committee works to establish SAA meetings within the Arizona state prison system and coordinate letter-writing sponsorship for inmates. Inmate meetings follow the 12 Steps and 12 Traditions of SAA, and use ISO conference-approved materials. The Committee works to spread the SAA message of hope to those who are seeking recovery from sexual addiction within the prison system.
In March 2019, Renaissance Recovery became the first established SAA group in the Arizona state prison system. Meetings are held on Saturday mornings at Meadows Unit in Eyman Complex, located in Florence, Arizona. Renaissance Recovery is working to obtain formal recognition from the ISO, and has its own General Service Representative (GSR).
The San Jose SAA Prison Outreach Committee is steadily growing and will be working to establish new SAA meetings at Eyman Complex, ASPC Perryville, and other state prison facilities in the future.
If you are interested in starting a letter writing sponsorship some things will need to be known. First off you cannot attend the meetings down in the Eyman complex, and be a letter writing sponsor at the same time. If you’re interested in becoming a letter writing sponsor you’ll need to visit the ISO site of SAA (click here) in order to sign up. Username & Password are on the flyer posted on the Service Board in the back of the room.
If you’re interested in attending meetings down in Eyman on Saturday morning you’ll need to fill out some documents provided by the State of Arizona’s corrections unit which can be founded inside the room at San Jose SAA on the back of the bulletin board. It’ll be provided in a packet.
